Business Analyst (Analytics and Reporting)

This temporary, full-time opportunity is available for up to twelve (12) months.

Keeping Ontario’s Legislative Assembly running smoothly takes many talented people, doing many different jobs—from camera operators and committee clerks, to purchasing officers and researchers. The Office of the Assembly is dedicated to serving Ontario’s Parliament.

The Legislative Assembly of Ontario seeks a Business Analyst (Analytics and Reporting) to join the Portfolio Management Office (PMO) to help design, manage the development of and make use of reporting tools on behalf of the Assembly’s business units.

What You’ll Do

You’ll act with integrity to:

• Develop visual reports, dashboards and scorecards using analytical tools including Microsoft’s Power BI platform, based on requirements gathering results.
• Design and implement publishing, scheduling, maintenance and updating procedures for reports and dashboards using Microsoft’s Power BI platform and expanding its uses as required.
• Work closely with members of the PMO as well as Assembly branches using standard business processes and documented requirements to ensure reports developed with a thorough understanding of business metrics and the Assembly’s evolving needs.
• Apply business analysis methodologies to ensure reporting supports informed decision-making providing accurate and up-to-date analyses derived from enterprise and other applications.
• Work with business units, identify, analyze and document reporting requirements.

You’ll support our collaboration as you:

• Apply business analysis methodologies to ensure reporting supports informed decision-making providing accurate and up-to-date analyses derived from enterprise and other applications.
• Assist Assembly staff in the use of, creation, and display of data and other information (e.g., graphs, charts, tables, infographics, etc.) needed to meet business needs and to enhance the usefulness, presentation and understanding of information.
• Work with application developers to embed on-demand reports into existing applications including the Assembly’s SharePoint intranet through Power BI platform.
• Assist in the development and review of business analysis processes, standards and materials for the Assembly.
• Participate in cross-functional project teams and committees on behalf of the Assembly, providing research, consultative support and fact-finding services on request.
